Believe

At the Abbey Church, we believe that we are carriers of the mission given to the entire church: to manifest Christ and advance the Kingdom of God! Anyone who is genuinely born again is a member of that church and a recipient of that calling! BUT, we also believe that, in order to fulfill Kingdom destiny, each believer is placed by God in a LOCAL CHURCH where theory becomes practice and faith is translated into specific works! In other words, you will never reach your full potential as a “lone ranger Christian” because God develops your heart partly by your involvement with a network of relationships sharing the same DNA! (Like a family…) In the book of Revelation, Jesus speaks specifically to each local church of the day, dealing with the specifics of their journeys. It is clear that there are certain callings on local churches, just as there are callings on individuals in the Kingdom of God. Those callings are determined by spiritual “genetics”—meaning there are God-reflecting characteristics that churches are just born with. So the most important thing you can do to maximize your growth at the Abbey Church is to let the Holy Spirit show you the character and calling that He has ordained for the Abbey Church.

He wants to do this NOT so that you can conform to it, but rather so that you can contribute to it and feel that you belong to something with life from heaven, far beyond human ideas and preferences. In this class, we will do our best to reveal the DNA that codes for THE ABBEY...but it is the Holy Spirit who brings life. Why not take a moment and ask Him now to do what mere words can never do. Ask Him for a supernatural revelation of His destiny for this community of faith!
